Bolstered by the return of its members from the national pool, the Cignal HD Spikers crushed the PLDT Home Fibr with an impressive 25-19, 25-8, 25-15 win in their 2019 Philippine Superliga Invitationals opening campaign.
Rachel Anne Daquis boosted the HD Spikers with her 13 points and five excellent receptions while Mylene Paat and Janine Navarro each tallied 6 points.
Jovelyn “the Bionic Ilongga” chipped in five markers and setter Robbins-Hardy put out eight excellent sets on top of seven digs with five attacks.
Fresh from their ASEAN Grand Prix volleyball tournament stint in Thailand, national team members Paat, Gonzaga, and Robins-Hardy still delivered and meshed well with the team’s system.
With their absence from their team in the PSL, the national team members were unable to attend a single practice with Cignal but re-aligned their focus with the win.
Cignal head coach Edgar Barroga expressed his sentiments with the national team members, “Bago sila pumunta rito tinext ko na sila kailangan pagbalik niyo rito naka mindset na sa inyo kung ano yung play natin, defense pattern natin.”
