ROXAS CITY, Capiz— Several individuals were dismayed after the supposed pay-out of Patrocenio “Doc Don” Chiyuto at his office Brgy. Cagay Thursday morning turned out to be a hoax.
The only things that greeted the investors of Chiyuto were “No trespassing, private property” posters and some Christmas decors.
Hundreds of investors trooped to Chiyuto’s home-cum-office in the hopes of getting their money, but they went home empty-handed.
“It’s another fake news,” said a middle-aged woman who asked not to be named.
She said that she was informed by a friend that Chiyuto will return the investors’ money.
She said that she sold her hogs and pawned pieces of jewelry in December 2020 to come up with the money which she thought would double after 28 days under Chiyuto’s management.
Meanwhile, news regarding the whereabouts and status of Chiyuto had died down.
Many believed that the alleged kidnapping of Chiyuto in June 2021 was “fake” to evade his responsibilities to his hundreds of investors.
The Securities and Exchange Commission cancelled the registration of Chiyuto’s business as he was not authorized to collect money and invest the same, as he promised his investors.
