Fight fans, grab your drinks and popcorn as another major developing MMA matchup just surfaced.
From dream to reality.
Fantasy matchup turned into a possible scenario.
Will we see Khamzat Chimaev go up against Alex Pereira in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC)?
On Jan. 12, 2026, the UFC quickly became a trending topic on X after Chimaev, the undefeated and current middleweight king, called out Pereira, the promotion’s light heavyweight champion.
Chimaev posted a status update on his official account, stating his desire to participate in the upcoming UFC event at the White House, and said he wants no one except Pereira on the fight card.
“Let’s go White House,” Chimaev posted.
“Don’t worry, I will finish you fast @ALexPereiraUFC.”
Chimaev, who has yet to drop a single bout in 15 fights, made his last UFC title defense last August against Dricus Du Plessis, while Pereira is fresh off a revenge win over Magomed Ankalaev to reclaim his belt.
However, the biggest question is whether the fight will take place, and if so, in which weight division they will fight.
Is Chimaev willing to move up to light heavyweight?
Will Pereira return to his former weight class and fight again as a middleweight?
Many questions will be raised heading into the buildup, but quick decisions will have to be made after UFC President Dana White revealed that June 2026 is the target date for the White House event.
In August 2025, White announced that the UFC had discussed with President Donald Trump the possibility of staging a fight night event as part of the White House’s preparations for the 250th anniversary of the United States’ founding.
Although several names have already drawn interest in fighting on the prestigious card, White added that they will pick worthy fighters who can bring more entertainment value.
Former UFC pound-for-pound king Jon Jones also expressed his intention to fight again on the White House card, but White wasn’t buying his antics.
