ROXAS CITY, Capiz — Police have launched a manhunt for a barangay chief tanod who allegedly stabbed a vulcanizer to death in Poblacion Tabuc, Maayon, Capiz, on Thursday morning, July 10.
Authorities identified the suspect as Felizardo Ilagan, 55, of Poblacion Tabuc.
He is accused of killing Bernard Dilla, a resident of Barangay Tuburan.
According to police reports, the incident happened around 6:30 a.m. while Dilla was drinking coffee at a store.
Without any warning, Ilagan allegedly approached and stabbed him in the stomach.
Despite the injury, the victim managed to run but was chased and stabbed again, this time in the chest.
The suspect fled on a motorcycle in an unknown direction.
Bystanders rushed the victim to Bailan District Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.
Barangay Captain Ramil Malapajo of Poblacion Tabuc said the suspect had no prior record and had been active in barangay activities.
He said efforts to contact Ilagan through his family have so far failed.
“We will try to reach him and convince him to surrender and face the consequences of his actions,” Malapajo said.
