The Chery Tiggo Crossovers took the court by storm, zooming to their second straight win of the Premier Volleyball League’s (PVL) All-Filipino Conference on February 24, 2024, with a commanding sweeping victory over Strong Group, 25-12, 25-17, 25-19, at the SMART Araneta Coliseum.
Fresh off a dominant outing against debuting franchise Capital1 several days ago, the Crossovers pulled off another convincing performance to kick off its All-Filipino campaign with a 2-0 start.
The Crossovers kicked off the match with their high-octane offense, pummeling the professional first-timers with their blazing attack off their well-designed set plays.
Chery Tiggo banked on its efficient offensive plays from the back row while also relying on its tight defensive pressure. From their middle blocking to their floor coverage, the Crossovers just excelled and dominated those categories.
After two one-sided affairs in the first two sets, Strong Group attempted a final comeback as they made crucial adjustments by deploying a taller front line to anchor their defense.
That move paid off for Strong Group as they were able to register several blocks to keep themselves within striking distance. However, Chery Tiggo replicated their outstanding play into the final stretch of the third to cap off with a victory.
Mylene Paat, one of the few remaining veteran mainstays for the Crossovers, spearheaded Chery Tiggo’s scoring spree with 10 points derived from nine successful attacks and a service ace.
Meanwhile, EJ Laure added substantial firepower with nine markers built from nine successful attacks alongside four successful receptions.
The Crossovers will aim to extend their undefeated winning streak to three straight games on March 2, 2024, against last conference’s runner-up, the Choco Mucho Flying Titans.
