The Chery Tiggo Crossovers proved to be too much for the NXLED Chameleons, 25-17, 25-15, 25-20, during their Premier Volleyball League (PVL) On Tour quarterfinal showdown on August 9, 2025, at the Philsports Arena.
With the massive victory, the Crossovers formally punched their ticket to the semifinals of the preseason tourney, arranging a highly anticipated clash against the rolling Cignal HD Spikers.
Chery Tiggo showed time and time again that experience is the best teacher after outworking the younger Chameleons in three consecutive sets.
It all started with the team’s doubled effort on the defensive end as they were able to limit NXLED below their usual spiking average bolstered by their tremendous floor coverage and timely middle blocking.
When the defense was integrated midway through the first, the offensive barrage from a balanced Chery Tiggo avalanche schooled NXLED, as they just had no answers to the scoring display from the women in red.
The duo of Princess Robles and Ara Galang spearheaded Chery Tiggo’s scoring spree in the opener, supported by some much-needed hits from middle blocker Imee Hernandez who piled up the points mostly from off-the-block kills.
Despite any defensive adjustment deployed by NXLED in the second set, Chery Tiggo’s well-oiled offensive artillery stole the show, as more players contributed to the team’s flawless victory other than Robles, Galang, and Hernandez.
Stealing the show for the Crossovers midway through the second set was star setter Jasmine Nabor who went to Ren Peñafiel when the NXLED defense focused primarily on Robles and Galang.
The silent scorer generated most of her second-set points from the left side of the floor and also showed consistency when Nabor fed her cross-court dimes when the player rotation forced her to man the right corner.
It was all Chery Tiggo in the third as Karen Verdeflor starred for them with her insane digging skills, saving the Crossovers five crucial points that put NXLED’s well-placed sets to waste.
Robles led all Chery Tiggo scorers with 12 points built from 10 successful attacks alongside five excellent receptions, three excellent digs, and a service ace.
The ever-reliable Galang and Peñafiel each chipped in 11 markers, while Hernandez added 10 points, three blocks, and two excellent digs.
Nabor, who once again orchestrated a well-rounded Chery Tiggo attack, dished 14 excellent sets in just three periods alongside three points and three excellent digs.
