One of the best teams in the Philippine professional volleyball scene will no longer compete in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL).
In a shocking statement issued by the Chery Tiggo franchise, the Sytin-family-owned company confirmed that it had disbanded its PVL team, the EV Crossovers, on Dec. 2, 2025.
“With heavy hearts, we announce the closing of the Chery Tiggo EV Crossovers’ chapter, after 11 unforgettable years in professional volleyball,” the franchise wrote in a statement.
Years after being crowned the first champion since the PVL’s elevation to a professional league, Chery Tiggo suddenly underwent a roller-coaster journey after failing to win a second title.
In this recently concluded PVL Reinforced Conference, the EV Crossovers had one of their worst campaigns, finishing with a disappointing 2-6 win-loss record that prevented them from qualifying for the playoffs.
During the PVL Invitational Conference, Chery Tiggo was so close to advancing deep into the playoffs, but a string of unfortunate losses in the last phase of the elimination round saw them end up in fourth place.
The move replicated the decision of F2 Logistics two years ago, when they also disbanded their pro volleyball team, the Cargo Movers.
It was also during that time when they experienced successive conference losses in the 2023 season, but F2 Logistics said they would be shifting their focus to their grassroots programs.
“The legacy of resilience, teamwork, and the spirit of the Chery Tiggo EV Crossovers will endure,” added the franchise.
“To our incredible fans, you have been the soul of this team. Your unwavering support made this journey extraordinary.”
As of now, the current players of the EV Crossovers have yet to announce their next move—whether they will be entering the PVL free agency pool or testing the waters overseas.
