BACOLOD City – A charcoal burner or “manug-uling” was found dead near his house at Sitio Kawayan, Barangay Lumbia, Cauayan, Negros Occidental last Wednesday.
Police identified the victim as Vicente Danong, 48.
Lieutenant Colonel Norberto Barniso, town police chief, said the victim woke up around 2 a.m. to check the materials he needed to make charcoal when his neighbor heard gunfire.
Danong was found lifeless later that day with gunshot wounds in different parts of his body.
Barniso said they have no lead yet as to who was behind the incident.
He said they will check first if the victim had enemies or if there were persons who may have grudges against him prior to the shooting.
He said the victim had no record at the police station.
