Ceres bus runs over mentally-ill teen

BACOLOD City – A 16-year-old boy, who was allegedly mentally ill, died after he was run over by a Ceres Liner bus at Sitio Pahilanga, Barangay Miranda, Hinigaran, Negros Occidental last Tuesday. Police Major Clifford Batadhay, Hinigaran town police chief, said the victim, whose name was withheld, suddenly crossed the street.

BACOLOD City – A 16-year-old boy, who was allegedly mentally ill, died after he was run over by a Ceres Liner bus at Sitio Pahilanga, Barangay Miranda, Hinigaran, Negros Occidental last Tuesday.
Police Major Clifford Batadhay, Hinigaran town police chief, said the victim, whose name was withheld, suddenly crossed the street.
Prior to that, the victim rode a Ceres Liner bus and jumped off the bus upon reaching Pontevedra town, causing him injuries.
“Gulpi lang man siya naglumpat,” Batadhay said.
The victim was identified by his family the following day, while the bus driver was released from police custody after both parties reached a settlement.
Batadhay said the Vallacar Transit Inc. has extended financial assistance to the victim’s family.
