Ceres bus crushes elderly woman to death

An elderly woman died after she was hit by a passenger bus evening of Jan. 9, 2024 in Bugasong, Antique.
The victim was identified as Salome Impol, 77, of Sitio Madarag, Barangay Ilaures, Bugasong, Antique.
Master Sergeant Kerby Aguilar, Bugasong traffic police investigator, said the incident happened at 6:10 p.m. in Barangay Zaragoza, Bugasong.
According to the victim’s nieces, she had the habit of visiting her churchmates.
But usually, someone accompanied her.
However, when the incident happened, the victim was alone.
She was crossing the road when the Ceres bus plying the Culasi, Antique-Iloilo City route ran over her.
Bus driver Raden Samones, 45, of Barangay Salvacion, Anini-y, Antique, claimed that the elderly woman suddenly crossed the road.
Witnesses claimed the bus was not speeding but it was too late for the driver to avoid the collision.
Impol suffered injuries on her head and different parts of her body.
She was brought to Bugasong Medicare Community Hospital but died shortly later.
Samores was subsequently detained but charges are yet to be filed against him.
