Central Negros hinterland roads boost access to services, tourism

BACOLOD City – The continuous construction of roads, especially in the hinterlands of central Negros Occidental, will boost access to government services and tourism endeavors in the area.

Moises Padilla Mayor Ella Celestina D. Garcia-Yulo reiterated that roads will also make the people in the hinterlands feel the presence of the government.

Garcia-Yulo led the groundbreaking of the road construction in Sitio (sub-village) Tiguisan, Barangay Montilla; Sitio Tubod, Barangay Macagahay; and Sitios Crossing Veil and Tuburan Barangay Guinpana-an.

Also present in the event were Municipal Engineer Glia Agnes T. Gayona-Mabag and barangay officials.

Also to start construction is the farm-to-market Road at Barangay Quintin Remo.

These projects are funded through the Local Government Support Fund- Support to Barangay Development Program LGSF-SBDP-RCSP.

In the adjacent town of La Castellana, Mayor Alme Rhummyla Nicor-Mangilimutan together with members of the Sangguniang Bayan and barangay officials marked the groundbreaking of farm-to-market roads in Sitio Tikoy-tikoy, Barangay Cabacungan and Sitio Manawin, Barangay Masulog.

The funds for the projects came from the Local Government support fund of the Department of Interior and Local Government and Abang Lingkod partylist Rep. Stephen Paduano.

Negros Occ. 5th District Rep. Dino Yulo was also present.

Mangilimutan said the road constructions in the hinterland barangays will make it easier for farmers to bring their produce to the town proper.

It will also afford easy access to tourists who are interested in visiting natural spring resorts in the area.
