Cellphone technician stabbed dead in dance hall

ROXAS CITY, Capiz — A cellphone technician was killed after being stabbed inside a dance hall early Monday morning, Dec. 29, 2025, in Barangay Agsilab, Sapian, Capiz.

Police identified the victim as alias John, 48, a resident of Barangay Agtatacay Norte in Sapian.

The incident occurred at about 12:43 a.m. while the victim was drinking with alias Noe, 43, a farmer from Sitio Ilaya in Barangay Lonoy, also in Sapian, inside the dance hall.

Police said the suspect suddenly stood up and stabbed the victim in the neck with a broken beer bottle, apparently without provocation.

The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office responded immediately and brought the victim to Mambusao District Hospital, where he was declared dead at about 1:42 a.m.

Investigators said intoxication was being considered as the possible motive behind the stabbing.

The suspect was charged with homicide and is currently under the custody of the Sapian Municipal Police Station for proper disposition.
