Former Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Finals Most Valuable Player (MVP) Ced Domingo will embark on a new journey after committing to the Akari Chargers confirmed last January 6, 2024.
After spending her first years with the Creamline Cool Smashers, Domingo shocked the PHL volleyball community after agreeing to a deal with Nakhon Ratchasima in Thailand last October 2023.
Now that Domingo’s contract overseas already expired, the superstar middle blocker was expected to go back to her mother franchise but news several days ago confirmed that the Cool Smashers already released her from their official roster.
An update from Domingo’s player agency VP Global Management then announced that Domingo will become the newest addition to the Akari family effective this February when the first PVL conference kicks off.
The veteran middle blocker was a key piece to the club’s dominant championship run last year and has won a total of four titles under the Creamline franchise.
Perhaps her best year was the 2022 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) season when she was named as the Finals Most Valuable Player (MVP) awardee during the Cool Smashers’ title run.
Domingo will be forming a formidable defensive duo with Fifi Sharma, Akari’s uprising star from De La Salle University.
She will also be teaming up with superstar outside hitter Faith Nisperos, spiker Dindin Santiago-Manabat, and Michelle Cobb.
Last conference, the Chargers were near to clinching a playoff spot after a tremendous start in the All-Filipino Conference but an unfortunate series of losses hindered them from a historic post-season qualification.
Domingo will aim to help Akari develop into a better defensive squad and will be overseen by their head of volleyball operations Taka Minowa.
