Cebu Pacific (PSE: CEB), the Philippines’ largest carrier, has renewed its IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) registry, reinforcing its safety credentials amid aggressive fleet and route expansion.
This marks the airline’s first renewal under the enhanced Risk-Based IOSA framework, a data-driven safety audit introduced by the International Air Transport Association.
Cebu Pacific has maintained IOSA registration since 2018, passing each biennial audit without fail.
“The IOSA renewal reflects the strength of our internal safety processes and the culture of excellence we uphold in our operations,” said Javier Massot, CEB Chief Operations Officer.
“Safety has always been at the core of what we do, and we are proud to meet global benchmarks as we continue to expand our network,” he added.
The audit renewal comes as Cebu Pacific receives international praise for its safety standards.
In June, global aviation safety website AirlineRatings.com named Cebu Pacific one of the world’s safest low-cost carriers.
The site cited the airline’s low incident rate, strong safety performance, and investment in modern aircraft as key criteria for the distinction.
In 2024, Cebu Pacific signed a landmark deal with Airbus to purchase up to 152 A320neo aircraft.
This is the largest aircraft order in Philippine aviation history and supports CEB’s transition to an all-NEO fleet.
NEO, which stands for “New Engine Option,” delivers significant fuel savings and reduced emissions, aligning with the airline’s sustainability goals.
Cebu Pacific is also broadening its network to meet increased passenger demand.
Last year, the airline launched 28 new routes, including 19 domestic and 9 international flights.
As of April 2025, it added Cebu–Ho Chi Minh, Iloilo–Bangkok (Don Mueang), and Manila–Sapporo to its international destinations.
The airline targets 30 million passengers by the end of 2025, leveraging its network growth, added seat capacity, and strategic hub development.
Cebu Pacific currently operates the most extensive network in the country, with 37 domestic and 26 international routes spanning Asia, Australia, and the Middle East.
