The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)–Negros Occidental presented the preliminary results of the 2024 Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) in Bacolod and Escalante cities to support evidence-based policymaking and development planning.
In Bacolod City, the presentation was held at Conference Room 3 of the Bacolod City Government Center and attended by city department heads and representatives from various offices.
The CBMS aims to update national government social registries and collect data for multidimensional poverty analysis, economic development, and poverty alleviation programs at the local level.
PSA said the preliminary data offers planners critical insights into existing gaps and areas needing intervention, allowing for responsive, data-driven programs and policies.
Supervising Statistical Specialist-OIC Diesah S. Biaoco led the PSA delegation, while City Planning and Development Office (CPDO) head Dr. Mary Jean L. Ramos led the local team.
Other departments represented included the Department of Social Services and Development, Local Economic Development and Investment Promotions, and Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board.
Jerome C. Cadayona, CBMS focal person and senior statistical specialist, discussed the preliminary results, data turnover requirements, and next steps.
In Escalante City, the presentation took place at ABC Hall in the Pentagon Building with local officials, department heads, partner agencies, and PSA Negros Occidental staff in attendance.
City Administrator Officer Joebert C. Golvio and Acting City Planning and Development Coordinator Atty. Sheila May E. Inumerables joined the event.
Information Systems Analyst I Benjie Lee Serinas presented the CBMS preliminary results and facilitated discussion on the “Ways Forward” and documentation required for the official data turnover.
The data highlighted the current socio-economic conditions of households, identified vulnerable groups, and pointed to priority areas for government intervention.
Participants raised questions during the session, which were addressed with detailed explanations to ensure clarity and resolve all concerns before the event concluded.
