BACOLOD City – A male cashier was robbed and shot by an unidentified suspect inside a convenience store in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental early Wednesday.
Wounded was Bonel Casipang, 25, of Barangay Buluangan.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Frederick Mead, officer-in-charge of San Carlos City Police Station, said the gunman barged in the store around 5 a.m. and forcibly took the victim’s cellular phone and allegedly carted away some cash.
However, the victim resisted, prompting the suspect to shoot his leg.
Casipang suffered a lone gunshot wound on his leg and was brought to a hospital. He will undergo surgery on Friday.
The gunman and his unidentified companion, who served as lookout, fled on board a motorcycle.
Mead said the store has no security guard.
“The suspect grabbed the opportunity to strike early in the morning with no customers,” he said.
Mead said they already have persons of interest since they have also acquired a copy of a closed circuit television (CCTV) camera footage installed inside the store.
“The investigation is ongoing and hopefully, we could solve this case,” he added.
