Carrot and eggplant recorded the most notable price increases among selected vegetables in Guimaras during the first phase of December 2025 (Dec. 1 to 5), based on the latest Retail Price Survey conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).
“Eggplant prices doubled compared with November levels, while carrot prices continued their upward trend, reflecting shifting supply conditions in the local market,” Provincial Statistics Officer Nelida B. Losare said.
A kilogram of eggplant was priced at PHP 160 in early December 2025, significantly higher than PHP 80 in November 2025 and PHP 90 in the second phase of December 2024.
“Similarly, carrots were sold at PHP 155 per kilogram, up from PHP 140 in early November 2025 and slightly higher than PHP 150 recorded in the first phase of December 2024,” Losare said.

Other vegetables also posted price increases during the reference period. Ampalaya rose to PHP 130 per kilogram from PHP 90 in November 2025. Baguio beans increased to PHP 125 per kilogram, compared to PHP 100 in November 2025 and PHP 80 in December 2024.
“String beans were sold at PHP 75 per kilogram, up from PHP 60 in November 2025. Tomato prices slightly increased to PHP 90 per kilogram, from PHP 85 in November 2025, although lower than the level recorded in December 2024,” Losare said.
Meanwhile, some commodities recorded price decreases. Cabbage declined to PHP 95 per kilogram from PHP 120 in November 2025 and remained below its December 2024 level.
Pechay native maintained a stable price of PHP 80 per kilogram, which was also lower than December 2024 prices.
“White potato was not available during the first phase of December 2025 and therefore had no recorded price for the reference period,” Losare said.
Losare noted that the prices reported for the first phase of December 2025 are preliminary and may be subject to revision.
“The Retail Price Survey of Selected Commodities is conducted monthly by PSA to monitor prevailing market prices and serve as input in the compilation of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for the province,” Losare said.
