ROXAS CITY, Capiz — A carpenter was in critical condition after he was electrocuted while fixing the roof of an under-construction house Thursday morning, July 2, in Barangay Intongcan, Pontevedra, Capiz.
The victim was identified as Robert Ordas, 37, a resident of Barangay Duluan, Maayon, Capiz.
Reynaldo Tumanday said he was cleaning his under-construction house around 9:50 a.m. when he heard a loud explosion and noise.
He later heard someone shouting that a person had been electrocuted.
Tumanday said he immediately went to the circuit breaker and switched it off, thinking the explosion came from there.
He later learned that Ordas’ head accidentally touched a live wire while he was standing on the rooftop.
Ordas sustained injuries to his head and other parts of his body, while the skin on his feet was severely damaged.
With the help of fellow carpenters and helpers, Ordas was brought down from the rooftop and taken to Bailan District Hospital by the Pontevedra Emergency Response Team.
He remains confined at the hospital for treatment.
