Carpenter arrested over unlicensed shotgun in Dumalag

ROXAS CITY, Capiz — A 52-year-old carpenter was arrested Thursday afternoon, Sept. 17, after police allegedly found an unlicensed firearm during the implementation of a search warrant in Barangay Consolation, Dumalag, Capiz.
Police identified the suspect only by the alias “Nonoy,” a resident of the village.
The search warrant was issued Sept. 10, 2026, by Regional Trial Court Judge Rommel Leonor of Branch 21 in Mambusao, Capiz.
Authorities recovered a homemade, long-barreled 12-gauge shotgun and a magazine containing ammunition from the suspect.
The suspect is under the custody of the Dumalag Municipal Police Station while charges are being prepared for alleged violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
RA 10591 regulates the ownership, possession, carrying, manufacture, and registration of firearms and ammunition in the Philippines.
