Officers of the Carles Municipal Police Station in Iloilo earned a P50,000 cash incentive almost a month after they arrested a 20-year-old suspected drug peddler.
Colonel Noel Aliño, Iloilo police chief, personally handed the amount to members of Carles PNP led by Major Robert Jayson Pancha on Feb 16, 2023.
“It’s a recognition of their efforts. It’s also a way to encourage other policemen to do their job well,” Aliño said.
Members of the Carles Municipal Police Station, Iloilo Police Provincial Office-Provincial Intelligence Unit, IPPO Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit Team 3, and 2nd Iloilo Provincial Mobile Force Company arrested Matthew James Bacos around 10:45 p.m. on Jan 18.
The buy-bust operation happened at Shangrila Beach Resort in Barosbos village, Carles.
Bacos, a resident of Barangay Botongon, Estancia, was collared after he handed a big plastic sachet of suspected shabu worth P600,000.
Police also recovered the marked money and item, 8 small plastic bags and 20 big sachets of suspected shabu, and other non-drugs items.
The seized drugs were valued at more than P6.8 million.
The suspect was already charged for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
