The Department of Environment and Natural Resources–Provincial ENR Office (DENR-PENRO) in Guimaras led by PENR Officer Vicente A. Sardina distributed relief goods to its partner-beneficiaries and laborers whose livelihood were affected by the coronavirus disease pandemic.
“Seeing their smiles made all our efforts worthwhile,” Sardina said.
PENRO Guimaras personnel contributed a total of Php39,500.00 which was used to buy grocery items like canned goods.
Prior to the distribution of relief goods to Barangays Lawi and Sinapsapan in Jordan and Barangays Taminla and Dagsaan in Buenavista, Senior Supervising Ecosystem Management Specialist (SVEMS) Leonora T. Magno coordinated with the Office of Governor and the Mayors of Jordan and Buenavista.

DENR PENRO Guimaras identified 110 recipients of canned goods and grocery items from four sites: Sinapsapan with 31 recipients; Lawi, 27 recipients; Guimaras Upland Farmers Association Inc. (GUFAI) from Barangay Dagsaan, Buenavista, 15 recipients; and Taminla Upland Farmers Association Inc. (TUFAI) from Barangay Taminla, 32 recipients and five (5) project partners.
Proper protocols and safety measures such as wearing of face masks and physical distancing were observed and practiced during the relief distribution. (DENR-6)
