CARD MRI honored for Kenya microinsurance partnership

NAIROBI, Kenya — CARD Mutually Reinforcing Institutions was recognized by CIC Insurance Group for its efforts to promote global financial inclusion during the official launch of CIC Impact on July 30, 2026, in Nairobi, Kenya.
The recognition highlighted the strategic partnership between CARD Mutual Benefit Association, a member of CARD MRI, and CIC Impact, a newly established subsidiary of Kenya-based CIC Insurance Group.
CIC Impact provides insurance protection designed for low-income families, micro, small and medium enterprises, and informal sector workers.
Through its partnership with CIC Impact, CARD MBA will share technical knowledge, operational frameworks and best practices to help the Kenyan insurer strengthen staff capacity, integrate digital technology and expand microinsurance coverage among vulnerable communities.
“Our mission goes beyond the Philippines. By sharing our knowledge, we aim to help partners like CIC Impact deliver simple, affordable insurance solutions that improve lives,” said CARD MRI Founder and Chair Emeritus Dr. Jaime Aristotle Alip.
CIC Insurance Group said CIC Impact was established to expand affordable insurance access among underserved groups, particularly workers in Kenya’s informal sector, as the country’s insurance penetration remains at about 2.3%.
The partnership builds on earlier cooperation between CARD MBA and CIC Insurance Group, which signed a memorandum of understanding in 2023 to exchange expertise in microinsurance and develop programs for low-income communities.
CARD MRI said it will continue developing international partnerships to share its social development model with microfinance and insurance institutions across Southeast Asia and Africa.
More information on CARD MRI’s microinsurance initiatives and international programs is available on its official website, cardmri.com.
