BACOLOD CITY — A 54-year-old car rental business owner was shot dead in Barangay 23 here on Saturday night in what police initially suspect to be a business-related killing.
Police Major Joeil Reclamado, chief of Police Station 4, identified the victim as “Mick,” a resident of Barangay Estefania.
Reclamado said witnesses saw the victim and the suspect talking, then arguing outside a building shortly after 8 p.m.
Gunshots followed, and the suspect fled the scene in a car.
The victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was declared dead at a hospital.
Police recovered five spent shells from a 9mm caliber firearm at the scene.
Reclamado said investigators are reviewing nearby closed-circuit television footage.
He added that they have identified a person of interest and are coordinating with the victim’s family as the investigation continues.
