CapSU staffer dies in Pontevedra road mishap

PONTEVEDRA, Capiz — A teaching staff member of Capiz State University (CapSU)–Pontevedra campus died after the motorcycle he was driving slipped on a road early Thursday, Oct. 9, in Barangay Tacas, Pontevedra, Capiz.
Mart Kelvin Banga y Bacero, 34, who was temporarily residing in Barangay Bailan, Pontevedra, and is a native of Old Kidapawan, North Cotabato, was declared dead on arrival by the attending doctor at Bailan District Hospital.
Police Capt. Gary Diaz, officer in charge of the Pontevedra Municipal Police Station, said the victim was traveling from Barangay Poblacion Ilawod at around 3 a.m. on a Honda Wave toward Barangay Bailan when the motorcycle slid on a slippery road.
Because of the strong impact, the victim sustained fatal injuries to different parts of his body.
The Pontevedra Emergency Response Team brought the victim to Bailan District Hospital, where Dr. Jane Pastrana declared him dead on arrival.
Police said an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
