ROXAS CITY, Capiz — The campuses and satellite colleges of Capiz State University (CapSU) suspended classes and work on Monday, Oct. 13, 2025, due to earthquakes recorded in Capiz and other parts of the Philippines.
The university administration said the suspension is a precautionary measure to ensure the safety and well-being of all students, faculty and staff.
The local government unit of Pontevedra, Capiz also suspended classes at all levels because of the earthquake.
In its Facebook post Monday, Oct. 13, the LGU said the suspension of classes at all levels, both public and private, is due to the Magnitude 6.0 (M 6.0) strong aftershock that occurred at 1:06 a.m. near Bogo, Cebu.
“This is a precautionary measure to allow the respective school authorities to conduct urgent initial structural integrity and safety inspections of all school buildings, as PHIVOLCS has indicated damage is expected from this event”, the FB post added.
Meanwhile, the provincial government led by Governor Fredenil “Oto” Castro conducted an earthquake drill Monday morning to equip provincial government workers on what to do should an earthquake strike at any time.
The drill was conducted after the regular Monday morning flag-raising ceremony in front of the Provincial Capitol.
