One of the most wanted persons in Capiz province was arrested on the evening of Oct. 13 in Roxas City.
Police said the suspect, alias Yan, 25, is No. 8 on the province’s most wanted list.
He was collared in Pueblo de Panay by officers from the Roxas City Police Station in coordination with the Regional Intelligence Unit 6–Capiz.
The arrest was by virtue of a warrant for violation of Republic Act 10883, or the New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016.
Bail was set at PHP 300,000 for his temporary liberty.
Republic Act 10883 imposes heavier penalties for motor vehicle theft, particularly when violence or intimidation is involved.
Brig. Gen. Josefino Ligan, Western Visayas police chief, lauded the involved units for the successful arrest.
“This accomplishment is a testament to our unwavering commitment to bring fugitives to justice and ensure that the rule of law prevails,” Ligan said.
He said Yan’s arrest should serve as a clear message to those who continue to evade the law.
Ligan also urged all personnel “to remain relentless, disciplined, and dedicated as we continue to make Western Visayas a safer place for all.”
