One of the most wanted persons in Capiz province was arrested on the afternoon of June 15 in Batangas City, Batangas.
Ariel Dieta, 26, a construction worker from Barangay Ambilay, Panitan, Capiz, was apprehended in Barangay Balagtas, Batangas City.
Members of the Maayon Municipal Police Station, in collaboration with the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Southern DFU tracker team and Capiz Police Provincial Office – Provincial Intelligence Unit (CPPO-PIU), arrested the suspect by virtue of an arrest warrant for murder docketed under Criminal Case No. C-321-23.
Judge Lorencito B. Diaz of Regional Trial Court (RTC)-6 Branch 17, Roxas City, issued the arrest warrant on July 13, 2023. No bail was recommended for his temporary liberty.
Dieta, who was temporarily residing in Barangay Alabang, Muntinlupa City, is Capiz’s eighth most wanted person.
The suspect was accused of shooting to death a cockpit employee last year in Barangay Poblacion Ilaya, Maayon town. Dieta fled to Metro Manila immediately after killing 32-year-old Rey Lenciano.
Investigation showed that Dieta might have retaliated after the victim allegedly mauled him.
A P30,000 reward was initially offered for his arrest.
On Oct. 22, 2020, the suspect was also arrested for a homicide case in Roxas City, Capiz.
