ROXAS CITY, Capiz – The Molecular Laboratory located at the Roxas Memorial Provincial Hospital’s (RMPH) outpatient department in Brgy. Lanot here has tested 297 specimens since starting its operations on December 17, 2020.
According to RMPH Administrative Officer Tessa Miranda, the laboratory can test 90 specimens and the results are available in 48 hours. Miranda said the extraction of specimen is done at the RMPH, not in the molecular lab to avoid contamination.
The provincial government of Capiz acquired the new Molecular Laboratory to test high risk contacts of suspected COVID-19 cases.
During its blessing and inauguration, Dr. Marlyn Convocar, Regional Director of the Department of Health on Region 6, pledged PHP1.5-million for the operations of the laboratory.
