ROXAS CITY, Capiz – Gov. Esteban Evan ‘Nonoy’ Contreras released on Friday P1 million each to Roxas City and 16 municipal governments (LGUs) as augmentation fund to fight the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
The turnover was held at the Governor’s Mansion at Lanot village here with League of the Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP)-Capiz chapter President and Mambusao Mayor Leodegario Labao Jr.
Each local government unit (LGU) received P1 million including Roxas City, to buy relief goods and medicine for their constituents.
Almost all mayors in Capiz, except Felipe Barredo of Panay, Felipe Neri Yap of Ivisan, Christopher Andaya of Sigma, Roberto Palomar of Tapaz, and Ernesto Escutin of Dao, were present.
The five were represented by their vice mayors and executive officers.
Earlier, each LGU received P100,000 as assistance for their frontliners and additional P5,000 financial assistance for the frontliners of the 473 villages of Capiz.
Before the distribution, the Provincial Health Office (PHO) through officer-in-charge Dr. Leah del Rosario briefed the local chief executives on the status of COVID-19 in Capiz.
The province has five COVID-19 cases with one fatality.
