ROXAS CITY, Capiz — The provincial government on Saturday, Feb. 21, presented the candidates for “Hangaway and Lin-ay” 2026 during the sashing and press presentation at Robinsons Place Roxas.
Atty. Luvim Amores, Provincial Information Office head, concurrent Provincial Human Resource Management Office head, and executive director of Hangaway kag Lin-ay, said each candidate should possess the 4Ks: Kusog, Kaisog, Kinaadman, kag Kagayon (Strength, Courage, Wisdom, and Beauty).
The coronation night will be held during Capiztahan 2026 on April 13 to 19.
Capiztahan was declared Best Cultural Festival in the provincial category by the Association of Tourism Officers of the Philippines (ATOP) Pearl Awards for its rich celebration of Capiznon culture.
Present during the activity were Vice Gov. James “Mitang” Magbanua, SK Provincial Federation President Prince Rovic Gardose, Board Member Trina Marie Ignacio, 2nd District Deputy Provincial Administrator Rosemarie Gardose, PTCAO Head Alphonsus D. Tesoro, PEDIPO Head Rio Garcia, Sapian Mayor Joe Villanueva, Cuartero Mayor Stephen Chris Openiano, Panitan Mayor Katherine Belo, Ivisan Vice Mayor RJ Yap, and other officials.

The Hangaway kag Lin-ay is an annual pageant that serves as the flagship event of Capiztahan, the province’s week-long charter anniversary celebration. “Hangaway” and “Lin-ay” are Hiligaynon terms for a handsome man and a beautiful woman, respectively. The pageant showcases the culture, talent and beauty of representatives from each municipality and Roxas City in Capiz province.
