Capiz police seize 28.609 grams of suspected shabu

ROXAS CITY, Capiz — The Capiz Police Provincial Office (Capiz PPO) seized 28.609 grams of suspected shabu, or crystal methamphetamine, during weeklong operations from Aug. 3 to 9, 2026.

Under its campaign against illegal drugs under Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, the Capiz PPO conducted four operations that resulted in the arrest of five people described by police as drug personalities. The suspected shabu had an estimated standard drug price of PHP 194,541.20.

Across all campaigns during the one-week period, the Capiz PPO conducted 71 police operations as part of its continuing efforts to maintain peace and order and strengthen law enforcement in the province.

Police conducted five operations against wanted persons, resulting in the arrest of five people classified as other wanted persons.

One operation under Republic Act No. 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, resulted in one arrest and the confiscation of one firearm.

One operation against illegal gambling under Republic Act No. 9287 and Presidential Decree No. 1602 resulted in one arrest and the confiscation of PHP 345 in betting money.

The Capiz PPO also recorded 30 surrender incidents involving illicit and noncompliant cigarettes. A total of 54 packs valued at an estimated PHP 6,760 were surrendered.

Under the Tokhang Kontra Armas Luthang program, 12 firearms and six explosives were deposited, surrendered or recovered.

The Capiz PPO conducted two operations against illegal fishing to protect the province’s coastal resources. The operations resulted in the apprehension of 18 people and the confiscation of fish, boats and fishing equipment with an estimated total value of PHP 2,463,000.

Police also conducted 10 operations involving alleged violations of Presidential Decree No. 705, or the Revised Forestry Code of the Philippines. The operations resulted in the confiscation of 781 board feet of lumber, but no arrests were made.

Police said the operations remained subject to the appropriate legal processes, including the filing of cases before the proper courts.
