ROXAS CITY, Capiz — The Capiz Philippine National Police (PNP) vowed to conduct a fair investigation into a brawl involving civilians and police officers early Wednesday morning, January 1, 2025, in Jamindan, Capiz.
In a statement, the Capiz Provincial Police Office (PPO), led by Provincial Director PCOL Albert D. Tapulao, assured a thorough and transparent investigation to deliver justice to all parties involved.
Reports indicated that PSSg Ezequias Villeza and PCpl Apolonio Llait, both from the Jamindan Municipal Police Station (MPS), were conducting a roving patrol in the town proper around 12:30 a.m. when a civilian on a motorcycle collided with PCpl Llait.
The incident led to the police officer attempting to arrest the civilian, who resisted, sparking a physical altercation.
The suspects were identified as Joah Villasis, 24, and Mark Cano, 22, both residents of Barangay Esperanza, Jamindan.
Police said charges for reckless imprudence resulting in physical injury to a person in authority would be filed against the suspects.
