ROXAS CITY, Capiz — Capiz police have ordered all chiefs of police in the province to monitor fuel prices at gas stations following reports of sudden increases.
Capiz Police Provincial Office Director Col. Albert Tapulao said the directive came from the regional office, which ordered coordination and verification at gas stations amid concerns over fuel price hikes.
Tapulao said the monitoring began after a social media post claimed that one gas station had raised its diesel price to PHP 80.00 despite the absence of an advisory from the Department of Energy on an oil price hike the previous Tuesday.
Based on verification, Tapulao said 79 of the province’s 109 gas stations maintained their fuel prices, while 30 raised prices from March 4 to 7, 2026.
The 30 gas stations later returned to their previous prices after the issue went viral on social media.
