ROXAS CITY, Capiz — Police arrested the province’s No. 2 most wanted individual during an operation Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 20, in Poblacion Ilawod, Dumarao, Capiz.
The arrest was carried out by the Dumarao Municipal Police Station, according to police authorities.
Police Maj. Tobi Garfin, Dumarao police chief, identified the suspect as alias Cardo, 29, a resident of Barangay Bungsuan, Dumarao.
Garfin said the suspect also ranked No. 9 on the municipal most wanted list.
The suspect was arrested by virtue of a warrant under Criminal Case No. C-87-18 for rape under Article 266-A of the Revised Penal Code, with no bail recommended.
He also faces Criminal Case No. C-88-18 for violation of Section 5(b), Article III of Republic Act 7610, or lascivious conduct, with a recommended bail of PHP 200,000.
The warrant was issued by Regional Trial Court Judge Joan Marie B. Bargas-Betita of Branch 14 in Roxas City on Jan. 13, 2026.
The suspect is currently under the custody of the Dumarao police for proper disposition.
Meanwhile, police said a senior citizen wanted for violating a city ordinance voluntarily surrendered Tuesday morning, Jan. 20.
The suspect, identified as alias Edwin, 63, a driver and resident of Barangay Tanque in Roxas City, surrendered after learning that a warrant had been issued against him.
The warrant was issued by Judge Kathleen G. Delantar, presiding judge of the Municipal Trial Court in Cities, Sixth Judicial Region, Branch 2, Roxas City, on Dec. 9, 2025.
Police said the suspect was released after posting a recommended bail of PHP 3,000 for his temporary liberty.
