ROXAS CITY, Capiz – The Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) of Saturday placed the entire province of Capiz under a state of calamity due to massive flooding by Severe Tropical Storm ‘Paeng’
Atty. Luvim Amores, information officer of Capiz Provincial Government, said the province’s calamity fund could now be used to assist the needs of affected residents.
Aside from this, price control could be implemented on basic commodities.
Food packs have been immediately distributed to the towns of Tapaz, Jamindan, Cuartero and Sigma that were affected by flooding. Several evacuees flocked to the evacuation centers provided by the local governments.
Amores said the calamity funds will be used as financial assistance, and rehabilitation of damages to infrastructure and the agricultural sector.
