ROXAS CITY, Capiz – The League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP)-Capiz chapter supported the proposed provincial government-run radio station to be used in the “blended education” of the Department of Education and the fight against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
The league expressed its support in a resolution passed and approved in a recent meeting by the LMP-Capiz led by its president Mambusao town Mayor Leodegario Labao, Jr.
The LMP has asked the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) through Vice Gov. James Magbanua to approve the P10 million fund requested by Gov. Esteban Evan Nonoy Contreras for the establishment of a radio station.
The mayors said the proposed radio station can help in the “blended education” of students amidst the pandemic.
They cited the importance of communication and education through radio broadcast and its effectiveness in disaster risk reduction and management response.
The radio station could also be used by the provincial government in spreading the program of the government where the people could benefit, the LMP-Capiz added.
The proposed budget of the radio station had been pending before the SP.
It will be located at the Kabalaka Center in Brgy. Lanot here.
According to SP Member Jonathan Sonny Besa, chairman committee on budget and appropriations, they are waiting for the submission of the feasibility study from the office of the governor before they could act on the request for the realignment of funds.
