Capiz man survives bolo attack to neck after neighbor dispute

ROXAS CITY, Capiz – A 39-year-old man sustained a severe neck wound following a bolo attack by his neighbor here on Saturday night, July 4.

Police identified the victim as alias Rogen and the suspect as alias Stephen.

Both individuals are residents of Barangay Dinginan.

The incident occurred at approximately 11 p.m. outside the victim’s residence.

According to the Roxas City Police Station, the altercation began with a heated verbal dispute between the two men.

The suspect abruptly drew a bolo, a large Filipino cutting tool similar to a machete, during the argument.

Stephen then struck Rogen on the left side of his neck with the weapon.

The victim’s brother arrived at the scene and attempted to intervene.

A violent struggle for the weapon ensued between the brother and the suspect.

The brother sustained injuries during the scuffle but successfully disarmed the attacker.

The suspect immediately fled the area in an unknown direction.

Emergency responders transported both injured brothers to the Roxas Memorial Provincial Hospital for medical treatment.

Local police have launched a hot pursuit operation to apprehend the fleeing suspect.
