ROXAS CITY, Capiz – Capiz Gov Esteban Evan Nonoy Contreras will donate his one-month salary to earthquake victims in Mindanao.
“As a gesture of generosity and concerns, I will share my whole month salary to our fellow brothers and sisters who are badly affected by the devastating earthquake in Mindanao,” Contreras said, even as he encouraged everyone to do the same.
The governor, who is celebrating his 50th birthday today Nov 6, 2019, urged his friends and relatives to donate instead of giving him gifts.
Donation boxes will be placed at the Capiz Provincial Capitol building today.
Other donation boxes will be placed at the Capiz Gymnasium in the Villarreal Stadium and ESLA-Governor’s Mansion in Brgy. Lanot here.
Dubbed “Kabalaka sang Capiz sa Mindanao,” the keys to the donation boxes will be handled by the Archdiocese of Capiz.
Meanwhile, the governor will deliver his first State of the Province Address (SOPA) simultaneously with his 50th birthday.
Aside from the SOPA, other activities are the formal opening of the Malasakit Center at the Roxas Memorial Provincial Hospital (RMPH), presentations of the rebel returnees of Capiz, and the official launching of Kabalaka Caravan Kapitolyo sa Barangay.
Monares said several high ranking officials from national and local governments will attend the celebration.
