ROXAS CITY, Capiz – Two cousins are vying for the mayor’s office of Panay, Capiz come May 2022 elections.
The race between incumbent Panay Mayor Felipe Barredo and former Capiz governor Vicente Bermejo is bound to be an interesting affair.
Barredo is seeking re-election under the Liberal Party while Bermejo is the standard-bearer of the PDP-Laban in Panay town.
Both camps have their own complete slate for vice mayor and Sangguniang Bayan (SB) members.
Barredo said he is confident that he and his group will emerge victorious in the elections against Bermejo’s party.
Bermejo was a former three-term mayor of Panay before becoming governor of Capiz for nine straight years.
The former governor ran and won as mayor of Roxas City, but he served for one term only after he lost to former city mayor Angel Alan Celino.
