Capiz drug suspects nabbed in Aklan bust

ROXAS CITY, CAPIZ – Two Capiz residents classified as high-value individuals were arrested in a drug buy-bust operation Sunday afternoon, July 5, on Diversion Road in Barangay Poblacion, Altavas, Aklan.

The operation was conducted by the Aklan Police Provincial Office through the Aklan Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit after the suspects allegedly sold a sachet of suspected shabu worth PHP 4,100 to a police poseur-buyer.

The Altavas Municipal Police Station identified the suspects as alias Nonoy, 34, of Barangay Tiza, Roxas City, and alias Dodoy, 46, of Barangay Poblacion, Cuartero, Capiz.

Operatives recovered from Dodoy three more sachets of suspected shabu allegedly wrapped in a towel.

Police also recovered from Nonoy five more sachets of suspected shabu allegedly wrapped in tape, along with drug paraphernalia.

Authorities said they also recovered 27 more sachets of suspected shabu from the suspects’ Changan sedan, along with a weighing scale, a blue lighter, three wallets, three cellphones, and several unused transparent plastic sachets.

In total, Aklan police said they recovered 35 sachets of suspected shabu weighing 230 grams, with an estimated street value of PHP 1,564,000.

The inventory of the seized items was witnessed by representatives from the Department of Justice-National Prosecution Service, a media representative, and a barangay official.

The operation was led by Maj. Jerome S. Manahan of the Aklan PDEU, together with the 1st Aklan Provincial Mobile Force Company, Altavas Municipal Police Station, and Aklan Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.

The suspects are under the custody of the Altavas Municipal Police Station pending the filing of complaints for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
