ROXAS CITY, Capiz – A Capiznon listed as a high-value individual in illegal drugs was arrested at noon Monday, April 13, in a buy-bust operation conducted by the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit in Barangay Mongpong, this city.
The operation, carried out at about 12 noon, led to the arrest of “Mayumi” who police identified as being of legal age and a resident of the area.
Authorities recovered four sachets of suspected shabu weighing 20 grams with an estimated street value of PHP 130,000, along with PHP 20,000 in marked buy-bust money.
According to Barangay Mongpong chief Ricky Donato, the suspect had long been monitored by local authorities and was included in the barangay’s Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council watch list.
He said the suspect allegedly became involved in the illegal drug trade after returning from Japan, where she had worked as a domestic helper.
The village chief said several individuals from other areas allegedly visited her house to buy illegal drugs.
He added that she allegedly at times used her house as a drug den.
The suspect was turned over to the Roxas City Police Station.
Charges for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, were filed Tuesday morning, April 14, before the City Prosecutor’s Office here.
