ROXAS CITY, Capiz — Dengue cases in Capiz rose to 216 from Jan. 4 to April 14, 2026, despite the dry season, according to the Provincial Health Office.
Health records showed that eight new cases were reported during the most recent monitoring week.
The total was 59.40% higher than the number recorded in the same period last year.
Cuartero logged the highest number of new cases with five.
Dao recorded one new case.
Roxas City recorded two new cases.
Two deaths linked to dengue were also recorded in Tapaz and Roxas City.
Meanwhile, Barangay Poblacion Ilaya in Cuartero was the only village identified as a clustered barangay.
Health officials continued to remind the public to follow the 4S strategy against dengue.
The strategy includes searching for and destroying mosquito breeding sites.
It also includes securing self-protection measures.
Health authorities also urged the public to support fogging when necessary.
They likewise advised residents to seek early medical consultation once symptoms appear.
Dengue is a mosquito-borne viral disease that tends to rise during periods when stagnant water allows mosquitoes to breed, even outside the rainy season.
