Capiz dengue cases reach 494, two deaths

ROXAS CITY, Capiz — Capiz recorded 494 dengue cases and two deaths from Jan. 4 through Aug. 1, 2026, according to the Provincial Health Office.
The Morbidity Week 30 report recorded 24 new cases during the latest reporting week.
The total was about 48.38% lower than the 957 cases recorded during the same period in 2025.
The locality breakdown listed four new cases in Cuartero, two in Dao, one in Dumalag and two in Dumarao.
Jamindan recorded three new cases, while Mambusao and Panay each recorded two.
Tapaz recorded three new cases, while Roxas City recorded four.
The locality figures account for 23 cases, one fewer than the reported weekly total of 24.
The province’s dengue death toll remained at two, with one fatality each from Tapaz and Roxas City.
People ages 10 to 19 accounted for the largest share of cases at 25.1%.
Health authorities also identified dengue case clusters in several barangays.
The affected areas were Barangays Poblacion Ilaya and Malagab-i in Cuartero, Atiplo in Mambusao, New Guia in Maayon, Daan Banwa in Tapaz, and Loctugan and Baybay in Roxas City.
The Provincial Health Office reminded residents to follow the Department of Health’s 5S strategy against dengue.
The strategy calls on communities to search for and destroy mosquito breeding sites, secure self-protection, seek early medical consultation, support fogging in hotspot areas and sustain hydration.
