ROXAS CITY, Capiz- The conduct of National and local elections in Capiz was generally peaceful. There was no major election-related violent incident reported to PEMAC (Provincial Election Monitoring Action Center) since election period started on January 13 until election day, May 13.
This was the assessment of Police Colonel Canilo Fuentes, Capiz police director of the just concluded national and local elections (NLE) elections in an interview on May 14, at Camp Apil here.
Fuentes congratulated police officers for a job well done.
He said that the peaceful conduct of elections is proof that Capiz PNP had done its best in keeping the peace and order in partnership with the Commission on Election (COMELEC), Armed Forces of the Philippine (AFP) and the various stakeholders in Capiz.
According to Fuentes, the Provincial Joint Security Control Centers early preparation and its collaborative partnerships with other stakeholders made for a peaceful and successful holding of the elections in Capiz.
I congratulate my officers and men for giving its best in securing their areas of assignment especially in the polling centers. I also thank our media friends in Capiz who have helped us in disseminating information especially on election-related laws and crime prevention information, and of course the people of Capiz who have been very supportive and cooperative in our peacekeeping operations since election period started, Fuentes emphasized.
Fuentes said Capiz PNP is still implementing its security coverage until June 12, 2019, the last day of the election period.
