ROXAS CITY, Capiz – The Capiz Provincial Capitol will be placed under lockdown due to rising number of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) infections.
Capiz Governor Esteban Contreras has approved the request of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan to suspend transactions in the provincial government from Sept 1-4, 2020.
The lockdown will be implemented after Contreras and other employees tested positive for the disease.
Meanwhile, Mayor Mac Arthur Valdemar confirmed on Facebook that he also tested positive for the disease.
Valdemar is under home quarantine.
The mayor also confirmed that a COVID-19 patient from Barangay Esperanza, Jamindan died from the disease.
He said the patient had chronic kidney disease and underwent dialysis for three weeks.
