Capiz board member calls out unsolved killings

ROXAS CITY, Capiz — A member of the Capiz Sangguniang Panlalawigan has raised concern over the province’s peace and order situation, citing a series of crimes that she said need immediate government action.

Board Member Blesilda “Ging-ging” Almalbis made the call in a privilege speech during the provincial board’s recent session.

Almalbis said authorities should act swiftly on incidents that have alarmed residents.

She said that while anti-illegal drug operations have been successful, most of those arrested were small-time suspects, while big-time suppliers have remained scot-free.

Almalbis, who represents the 1st District of Capiz, cited the ambush of anchorman Jay Lavapiez and other unsolved killings that have caused fear among the public.

She urged police to conduct a rigid investigation and arrest the suspects and masterminds to protect and preserve peace in the province.
