ROXAS CITY, Capiz — A budget of PHP 55 million has been allocated for this year’s Capiztahan 2026 celebration, scheduled for April 13–19.
Provincial Budget Officer Antonio Arbis said in a media interview Thursday, March 12, that the increase was due to the simultaneous celebration of the 125th founding anniversary of Capiz province, compared with last year’s budget of about PHP 40 million.
He said the Provincial Tourism Office has prepared several activities for the twin celebrations.
“We are expecting more visitors to come to the province of Capiz because more activities and programs will be included in the celebration,” he said.
Arbis said the PHP 55 million budget has been released by the Provincial Budget Office and will be turned over to the Provincial Tourism Office, which will distribute the funds for each Capiztahan 2026 activity.
He said the budget is enough to support the various activities lined up for Capiztahan 2026 and the 125th founding anniversary of the province.
Capiztahan is the province’s annual celebration marking the founding anniversary of its civil government through activities that highlight local heritage, culture and seafood.
This year’s celebration will feature street dancing, the Maragtas sang Capisnon parade, a giant seafood festival and local trade fairs, among other activities.
