Corporal Arjun Guillermo of Barangay Pangpang Sur Mambusao town was transported from Bacolod to Iloilo via roll on-roll off ship.
Guillermo was a member of the Philippine Army’s 62nd Infantry Battalion (IB) assigned to Negros Oriental.
He died from a gunshot wound on the chest during an encounter with some 10 armed persons believed to be members of the New People’s Army.
There were two clashes that day in Guihulngan – one started at 5 p.m. and the other just two hours after the first.
Guillermo was hit in the second encounter. Because of the bad weather condition, it was already dark when government troops pulled Guillermo’s body out of the encounter site.
