Canlaon villages declare rebels ‘persona non grata’

BACOLOD City – Barangay officials and residents of two villages in Canlaon City, Negros Oriental condemned the Communist Party of the Phippines-New People’s Army-National Democratic Front (CPP-NPA-NDF) and declared them persona non grata (unwelcome) last week.
These barangays were Bayog and Lumapao headed by village chiefs Xyrel Bonganciso and Guadioso Olvido, respectively.
Troopers of the Army’s 62nd Infantry Battalion (IB) conducted an activity, where barangay officials and residents took oath of allegiance in support of the government’s campaign against insurgency.
It was followed by a symbolic signing of the two barangay resolutions on the said declaration.
The program concluded with a prayer and candlelighting, and burning of the CPP-NPA-NDF flag led by the two village chiefs.
