Phoenix Fuel Masters’ superstar forward Calvin Abueva won’t be available in the upcoming 2020 PBA Philippine Cup.
After the association allowed Abueva to join the team in practice sessions three months ago, PBA commissioner Willie Marcial said that he still has yet to give the go signal for Abueva re-activation in the PBA.
Marcial stated in his interview that he and Abueva had a verbal agreement towards his return in the league, saying that Abueva is still processing some of the requirements that Marcial told him to do.
“Nag-uusap kami. May pinag-uusapan pa kami. May pinapagawa pa ako. Kapag naayos agad ‘yun at okay na, ie-elevate ko sa board kung ano ang recommendation ko,” Marcial said.
Marcial added that Abueva has been in contact with him ever since his return to Phoenix’s practice sessions and he is seeing progress.
Abueva was slapped with an indefinite suspension after clotheslining TNT super import Terrence Jones and had on-court verbal issues with Ray Parks Jr.’s girlfriend during their regular-season game last year.
